Multimedia Rooms are open by appointment
Welcome to the Duderstadt Center’s Multimedia Rooms, a resource unparalleled by any other on campus. Available 24/7 by reservation, whenever the Duderstadt Center is operating, the Multimedia rooms are more than a collection of computer hardware, but an environment custom engineered to elevate your creative process. Designed for beginner content creators to seasoned media professionals, we have you covered!
Each room is outfitted with:
- Acoustic Engineered Sound Panels to facilitate critical listening and high fidelity audio production.
- Visually designed with color work and color grading in mind with neutral gray walls and balanced dimmable LED lighting.
- 2020 Mac Pro Computers with Intel 3.3 GHz 12-Core Xeon processors, Turbo Boost up to 4.4 GHz, 32 GB memory, Radeon Pro Vega II 32 GB Video Card and Apple’s Afterburner technology.
- One 6k Apple Pro Display XDR and secondary 4k Display.
- Adam A7 High Fidelity Stereo Speakers.
- Midi Keyboards for composition.
- Audio Interface with instrument & microphone inputs.
- HD Webcams for remote collaboration.
- High Speed Network Attached Storage for use by Duderstadt Center Video Studio content creators.

Backing up the powerful hardware tools in the Multimedia Rooms are the Digital Media Commons support staff who are ready to consult and help guide you through your post production process. For assistance or consultation email:
Multimedia Room Access
Due to Covid-19 restrictions we will not be offering in-person orientations.
When: Monday through Friday at 10:00 a.m. and at 2:00 p.m.
Duration: Approximately 30 min
Where: Consultant Desk, Groundworks Media Lab, Room 1315 in the Duderstadt Center. Intended for new users who wish to learn about Groundworks resources and gain access to the Multimedia Rooms or the Recording Booth. The 30 minute orientation covers the basic set up of hardware and software in the lab; equipment and resources within the Multimedia Rooms and the Recording booth; and policies regarding lab use and reservable spaces. The orientation will prepare users to start working on their projects within 24 hours of their orientation. No registration is necessary for individuals. Large groups, including classes, departments, and student organizations, can schedule an orientation by emailing [email protected].
COVID Reservation Policy, Protocols and Precautions
Certified Faculty, Student and Staff may submit this form to request a Reservation for the Multimedia Rooms.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, until further notice these additional limitations and procedures must be observed as part of any use of Duderstadt Center Media & Studio Arts facilities. Please take these guidelines into consideration when submitting your proposal.
Certification
1. Multimedia Room access is granted after attending a GroundWorks Orientation. Due to the COVID safety guidelines, in person Orientations will not be happening. Till the online Virtual Orientation is ready, only users previously certified may apply for time.
User Support
- All client support and consulting will be held by video conference.
- All Multimedia Room Special Requests will be considered within the constraints demanded by these COVID safety guidelines.
- Priority will be given in this order:
- Classes, coursework and degree required student projects
- Faculty research projects
- Student/Faculty independent projects - If a COVID-19 case is suspected, we will contact EHS at [email protected] to assess the need for additional cleaning and potential isolation. The current production or class will be cancelled and DC will make every attempt to reschedule it for a later date when safe to do so.
COVID Reservation Policy
- For the duration of COVID Pandemic, Faculty, Staff and Students may request access for a duration of time to complete work for a credit class or research projects. For the duration, which may now extend over several days, they will be the only individual other than DMC staff to have access to that particular Multimedia Room.
Safety Protocols Within Multimedia Rooms
- Social Distancing must be maintained at all times
- All users must respect waiting area floors marked with 6-foot distancing while waiting for entry.
- Individual space required per individual is (36ft x Pi) or 113 sq.ft. (circular), 144 sq.ft. (square).
- Maximum # of people allowed per Multimedia Room, including staff is 1 - Face masks are required for all occupants.
- Operated only during Duderstadt Center Operating Hours
- Cleaning
- Users are instructed to clean at start and end of their reservation with disinfectant supplied in each room.
- DMC Staff cleans rooms at the start of each reservation.
- Janitorial Staff cleans rooms while the building is closed. This includes only the doors, floors, chairs and
furniture surfaces. - When the reservation is over, the User who checked out the key must deposit the key in the MSA Key
Lockbox designated by signage in each studio space.
